Un fumetto tutto italiano, partorito da Andrea Ferraresso e distribuito sotto licenza Creative Commons (by-nc-nd), che affronta una delle pagine meno note della storia dell’hacking, la vicenda di Karl Koch, Pengo e un pugno di altri aderenti al Chaos Computer Club. I quali decisero di porre a disposizione dei servizi segreti dell’Est le proprie competenze e una serie di informazioni “sensibili”—senza però riuscirci. Dopo il libro e il film, 23, sulla scena hacker tedesca di quegli anni, quest’intrigante graphic-novel è specificamente dedicata a “Hagbard-Celine“, nickname di Karl Koch, il cui cadavere carbonizzato viene ritrovato nel giugno 1989 in un bosco tra Hannover e Wolfsburg. La morte risale al 23 maggio precedente.
Karl Koch, insieme a Pengo e Markus Hess, è stato tra i protagonisti assoluti della scena hacker tedesca (e anche europea) degli anni ‘80. Resi famosi da articoli su quotidiani e riviste, da trasmissioni televisive e dal libro The Cuckoo’s Egg di Clifford Stoll, oltre che dal classico passaparola tipico degli ambienti underground, questi ragazzi hanno rappresentato in maniera autentica il decennio nel quale la loro stella è brillata più in alto delle altre: ribellione, curiosità, pionierismo, disagio esistenziale e un pizzico di incosciente opportunismo.
Una miscela esplosiva che ha infiammato un’esistenza conclusasi nel più tragico dei modi.
