People LIKE US? LIKE US? No moron, it's not people like us that are doing anything damaging. Just stop and think about it for a second. I agree with what one of the comments say: downloaders are in the 10's of thousands while movie goers are in the millions (billions?). So regardless of the silly amount that isn't going into the revenue box of Paramount, or Megan fox's pocket, they are making money,BIG. Entertainment companies, and distributing companies, make money on air, dvd's are an extremely HIGH PROFIT market. Even after the film company stopped making money of the film, the dvd companies still continue to... don't forget royalties. A single DVD could generate enough profit to cover the cost of making 20 more DVD's if not more. Now think of what this is doing to society, it's building such a big difference in social strata. Why do they need to make millions of dollars, because they can. They rely on people to flock like sheep, and maximize their profits, profits in the 10-100's of millions is reidiculous, they are not making the world a better place, i'm not trying to preach here, but really, where do you think these profits go, not to the red cross foundation, that's for sure. The goverment calls our actions illegal because they can't collect tax off copies that are downloaded, and not because they care about the companies losses. So they get mad that they can't collect the $2.59 of every copy, and they put out a law for us not to download anything and pay for everything. IT's not in YOUR best interest to say that people LIKE US criple the industry. Focus more on them... they have shifted the economic balance so far to one side (naturally their side) that i don't think it will ever recover, and the victims of such a calamity will keep feeling it's impact for a while longer. Are YOU, part of the industry, is your life dependent on the integrity of the system? Is that why you defend it like you would your life? These companies' profits are not affected by people like US, they don't even feel the shock. It's like peeing against a tidal wave. Their greatest enemy are their competitors; they have to share the market with other companies, and i don't believe in one vote (or one purchase from a certain company) making a difference, the numbers are too great to be worried about singularities. HELL, if anything we are what's keeping the economy in check. Regardless, i don't know where you come off calling us "low lifes", if they made their prices more reasonable then perhaps i would go to the movies more often, or stack my DVD rack with new disks every so often. You DO REALIZE that cinema's for example don't make anything off ticket sales, i believe more than 80-90% goes back to... i forget, either the distributing company of the film company itself, but regardless where the 100's of millions actaully end up, the cinema makes nothing on them. Their money comes from snacks that they sell. Yes Popcorn, and drinks, i mean even then, christ all mighty, $8 for a pop and pop corn. I can make a turkey dinner from 10 dollars.. for 10 people. DO YOU honestly think, speculative prices are justifiable. $11 to sit in a theatre, and 10 dollars for overly diluted pop, and pop-corn (probably has highest profit margin on earth, food wise that is). NO my friend, you are wrong, we will not purchase something if we can get it for free... acting otherwise just defies our instint to survive in this ravage economical jungle, it goes against evolution if we defy the will to survive, to profit from a situation. ANd if you argue against me by saying buying something might be an easthetisized action, for the sake of prolonging , for example civilization... well if you heard of the word entropy then you know, everything will have to collapse to release tension, or achieve a new, more stable, balance point, and we can't really keep pretending for ever.
